The End!

Northeast January-2 2019 and Rio de Janeiro 2019 are ending today! :(
The trips were a success and we would like to thank all the exchange students, as well as our Coordinators, Chaperone, drivers, guides and suppliers!
A special thanks to Rotary, all the families, host families, Officers and Chairmen. Thanks for the support!

This morning we woke up very early at the beautiful resort we were staying at in Puerto Seguro and we went to put our luggage in the bus at 6am then eat breakfast at 6:30am. However, the staff wouldn't let us in until 7am so the majority of us slept outside of the doors in the lobby waiting for breakfast. After   eating a great continental breakfast, many people smuggled some food from the hotel in napkins to put in their backpacks for later. We had around a 11 hour bus ride today and nearly everyone just slept the entire time. We were all very exhausted from all the activities that we did the past couple of days. For lunch, we stopped at a buffet restaurant for an hour but the majority of the students just ate what they packed instead of buying the lunch. We drove for about 6 more hours after that till we got to Victoria around 8:30 and stopped for dinner. It was also buffet style in the upstairs of a local restaurant. We had to change our phone times again because we changed timezones that participated in Daylight savings time, so we lost an hour and by the time we got to the hotel it was 10:30. Then we had a meeting for awhile discussing the plans and luckily we were given a curfew of 12am because we behaved ourselves pretty good that day.

Day 20/Dia 20 - Porto Seguro

Hoje a gente acordo às 7:30 da manhã, tomou café da manhã às 8 e partiu para a praia as 8:30. A gente visitou o mercado e fez um tour pela cidade onde a gente visitou o lugar da primeira missa do Brasil e o lugar onde os portugueses moraram.
Depois de conhecer a cidade a gente voltou para o hotel onde a gente ficou na piscina e curtindo do hotel.
Na noite a gente foi jantar num restaurante onde a gente teve também uma festa, para a festa a gente vestiu a camiseta da viagem que a gente customizou do jeito que cada um queria.

 

Dia 19/Day 19 - Salvador/Porto Seguro

Day 18/ Dia 18 - Salvador

Today we woke up in Salvador, the first capital city of Brazil. The majority of its population is of African descent, so their culture is largely influenced by Africa and the Caribbean. After breakfast, we headed out on a city tour. At the first stop, a few other exchange students and I decided to take pictures with some large, oddly dressed women. Little did we know, nothing is free—the women tried to make us pay a ton for the photos. There was a lot of confusion and miscommunication, but in the end the coordinators and tour guides took care of the situation and saved us from getting ripped off. Our next stop was at a church where vendors sold special bracelets. There were thousands and thousands of them tied to the church fence and doors. Then we had free time in a market to buy souvenirs and eat lunch. Many exchange students (including myself) took this opportunity to get their hair styled in braids or dreads. After, we all took and elevator to the upper part of the city where we continued the tour. We saw churches and other historic sites, and then had more free time which ended in everyone singing Bob Marley songs with some street musicians. Next, we ate dinner then went to a folkloric dance show which I thought was incredible. It showcased traditional dances, like capoeira. We ended the night with a talent show at our hotel where exchange students performed a variety of songs, danced, magic tricks, and skits. After the jam-packed, fun-filled day, we finally went to bed at around 2 am.

Hoy nos despertamos en Salvador, el primer capital de Brasil. La mayoría de la población tiene raíces de Africa, entonces la cultura de Africa y el Caribe tiene mucha influencia. Después del desayuno, empezamos el pasaje por la ciudad. El la primera parada, algunos intercambistas y yo nos sacamos unas fotos con unas mujeres grandes y raras. Era una lástima que no sabíamos que nada es gratis, porque la mujeres trataron de re cobrarnos por las fotos. Era un quilombo, pero al fin los coordinadores y guías nos salvaron, gracias a Dios. La próxima parada era une iglesia donde había gente vendiendo pulsera muy populares. Había miles y miles de pulseras puestas en el portón y las puertas de la iglesia. Después, tuvimos tiempo libre para comprar recuerdos y almorzar. Algunos intercambistas aprovecharon de la oportunidad para cambiar sus estilos de pelo y hacer transas o dreadlocks. Después, nos juntamos de nuevo y subimos en ascensor a la sección de la ciudad más alta para continuar el recorrido de la ciudad. Vimos iglesias y otros sitios históricos, y después tuvimos más tiempo libre que terminó con todos cantando temazos de Bob Marley en la calle con algunos músicos. La cena fue próximo y después fuimos a un show de danza folclórica que en mi opinión era re zarpado. Mostró unas danzas tradicionales como capoeira. Terminamos la noche con un show de talento en el hotel donde intercambistas cantaron, bailaron, y más. Era un día con mucha emoción y diversión, y por fin nos acostamos a las 2.

Day 17/Dia 17 - Canindé/Praia do Forte/Salvador

Day 16/Dia 16 - Recife/Canindé de São Francisco

So today we woke up at 5 AM, which is really early when you go to be at just about 1. So I spend the first 6 hours of the day sleeping, then we went on a boat through some beautiful landscape, that was probably over 1 hour and then we went and swam in a place that was probably crocodile waters, but their was a met in the water so it was fine, then someone took a boat ride into a “cave” more like a cliff but it’s all good. We went back on the bus and ended up in some city somewhere in brazil, where we went out to get lunch; that’s about everything we did today.

 

Day 15/Dia 15 - Natal/Olinda/Recife

Day 14/Dia 14 - Natal

Hoje a gente precisava acordar as 7  tomar cafe ate as 7:30 para conseguir sair do hotel as 8:00 porque a gente teve muitas atividades hoje.
A galera foi dividida em 2 grupos de acordo com os ônibus, o ônibus 1 foi primero para a barreira do inferno, que é a base da força aerea brasileira, depois a gente visitou A árvore de caju mais grande do mundo, a gente ouviu a historia da a árvore e depois a gente tirou muitas fotos. 
Olhamos os artesanatos da feira e almoçamos num restaurante que fica muito perto da árvore. Lá no restaurante a gente encontro o outro grupo dos intercambistas e depois a gente trocou  atividade, o grupo dois foi para a barreira do inferno e à árvore e o grupo 1 foi para à praia para fazer stand-up paddle. Nos tivemos uma pequena aula de como fazer o stand-up e depois a gente foi para o mar para tentar fazer-lo. Algums dos colegas caíram da plancha mas quase tudos conseguiram.
Apos a praia a gente volto para o hotel onde a gente se encontro com a galera do outro ônibus e teve tempo livre até as 5:30 que a gente foi jantar num rodizio de pizza e depois foi para a festa na praia, dançamos e nos divirtemos muito.

Hoy nos levantamos a las 7:00 y desayunamos en  30 minutos para que pudieramos salir del hotel a más tardar a las 8:00 porque teníamos muchas cosas por hacer.
El grupo fue dividido en 2 según los camiones, el primer camión fue primero a  la barrera del infierno que es la base de la fuerza aerea brasileña, despues visitamos el árbol de caju más grande del mundo, escuchamos las historias de cómo fue plantado y tomamos muchas fotos.
Vimos artesanías en la feria de artesanatos a la salida del árbol y comimos en un restaurante que se encuentra cerca del árbol. En el restaurante nos encontramos con el otro grupo de intercambistas y terminando la comida cambiamos de actividades, el grupo 2 fue a la "Barrera del Infierno" y al árbol de caju mientras que el grupo 1 fue a la playa para hacer stand-up padeling. Nos dieron instrucciones de cómo se tenía que hacer y despues entramos al mar a intentar hacerlo. Algunos compañeros se cayeron  de la tabla o no conseguían mantenerse en pie pero casi todos lograron hacer la actividad.
Despues de la playa regresamos al hotel en donde nos encontramos con los demás intercambistas y tuvimos tiempo libre hasta las 5:30, hora que fuimos a cenar a un rodizio de pizza, al terminar la cena fuimos a una fiesta en la playa en donde bailamos y nos divertimos mucho.

Day 13/Dia 13 - Natal

We started off the day with an early and strong breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant. When everyone was satisfied and ready to leave, we were split into two groups and hopped on the bus. Our bus went to a beautiful beach where we had three hours of free time to look around and swim in the sea while the other bus went for the buggy ride. After lunch at the beach, the two groups swapped activities and it was our turn for the buggies. This was my favorite activity from this whole trip so far! We drove in beautiful landscapes, stopping here and there to enjoy the view, take pictures, lay in hammocks in the water, and do activities like a waterslide down a hill and a zip line. After three hours of fun, we came together with the whole group and went to the hotel for some free time in the pool. When everyone was ready again we went to a restaurant where we got served a buffet to our tables. Finally, we spent our daily reunion looking back on a wonderful day with wonderful people in this wonderful place, Natal, Brasil!

Dia 12/Day 12 - Maceió/Natal

Day 11/Dia 11 - Maceió

Today we woke up at 7:30 am and we left at 8:30 by bus, we arrived at 10:30 at the boat.
With the boat we went to a beach and stayed there until 14:20. When we arrive some of us did and activity where you are on a banana and a boat pushes you forward. After this, we ate and just chilled at the beach.
We came back at the hotel around four o clock. We had free until 7:15. Some went to a beach again, others to a supermarket or stayed at the pool. After the dinner we danced and go at our room at 10:30.

Hoy nos levantamos a las 7:30 y fuimos con el autobús a las 8h30. Llegamos a las 10:30 en un barco. Con este barco fuimos a la playa paramos allá hasta las 14:20. Cuando llegamos algunos hicieron actividades. Por ejemplo estábamos tirados por un barco en una banana.
Después de eso comimos y descansamos en la playa. Volvimos al hotel a las 4hs más o menos. Teníamos tiempo libre hasta las 19:15. Algunos fueron de vuelta a la playa otros al supermercado o a la pileta del hotel. Después la cena bailamos y fuimos a la habitación a las 10:30.

Day 10/Dia 10 - Maceió

13 de janeiro de 2019

Depois de descansar de um dia longo de viagem, nós saímos pra nossa primeira visita á praia de Maceió. Chegamos no onibus ao pista de bikes perto da praia, onde William fez sua vingança de jegue porreta.Ali, nos separamos em grupos para subir nas jangadas que nos levaram até uma piscina natural 2 km no mar. Foi uma experiência inesquecível. Afortunadamente(ou desafortunadamente, depende como olha a situação) o dia imteiro o céu estava cheio de nuvens, o que significa que não queimamos muito a pele. Depois disso,  fomos almoçar para recuperar energias para nossa atividade seguinte: a aula de surf.
Para muitos de nós, esta aula foi nossa primeira experiência com surf. Embora isto, todos aproveitamos as 3 horas ao máximo.

Day 08/Dia 08 - Lençóis

Dia 07/Day 07 - Lençóis

On Thursday, the 10th of January we had to get up at around 6am and had time for breakfast until 6:50am.
At 7 we started to walk down the streets of the city and we were divided in 2 groups.
The groups went to 2 places at different times.
This day we saw the prathina cave and went to a natural park where we were able to
choose different water activities like snorkeling or going down on a zip line from a height of more than 10 meters.
We needed to walk down the mountain on a small path to reach the entry of the cave.
The longer we walked the darker it got.
Sometimes the shadows of rocks or a rock itself seemed to look like a face or a skull for example.
One time we were all standing still and were listening to silence in the cave without any lights.
At the natural park we could pay at the entry for different activities that where at different places of the park.
Most people of the group did zip lining and snorkeling.
It was a lot of fun and besides the activities there were shops to buy snacks and drinks or you could just go to the water too.
At the mid of the day the groups ate lunch and  switched the place.
Later when we arrived at the hotel we had some free time until 7:30pm when it was time for dinner.
At 8:30pm started a show of a dance called capoeira.
It's like a mixture of a fight and dancing. It is very impressive and the atmosphere was very special with all the singing and dancing. At the end some exchange students took part to and tried to dance with the guys of the dancing group.
When they finished the show we had our daily reunion at the evening and at 10:30pm af the time of the curfew we went to our rooms to end the day.

Dia 06/Day 06 - Luis Eduardo Magalhães/Lençóis

A gente acordo cedo para viajar até Lençóis (Chapada diamantina). A viagem no ônibus for bem legal, porque os guris acordaram a tudo mundo com um som de cavalo e foi bem engraçado.

A gente parou no Morro do Pai Inácio, caminhamos muito e tiramos muitas fotos legais. Foi um lugar maravilhoso e o guia pulou do Morro mas não morreu kkkk (foi uma brincadeira).

Depois continuamos pra o hotel, e gente estava muito cansada e caminhamos até o hotel com as mochilas. Foi uma caminhada engraçada porque tudo mundo estava morrendo, mas admiramos o povoado.

Chegamos ao hotel e fomos jantar, o qual foi maravilhoso tanto o hotel como a comida. Depois tivemos uma aula de dança de forró, samba e funk, foi MUITO legal, a gente se divertiu demais, e gente ficou muito suada, e depois da reunião fomos para a piscina com roupa, e começamos dançar e brincar todos juntos, e gente fez muito barulho e tivemos que sair da piscina kkkkk.

Este dia foi bem legal!!!

Day 5/Dia 05 - Brasília/Luis Eduardo Magalhães

A gente acordo cedo como todos os dias mais esse dia a gente tinha que ir embora do Brasilia.
A gente foi um templo onde caminhamos um espiral de boas energias, olhamos umas pinturas e arte egípcia, depois a gente foi outra igreja com umas janelas maravilhosas e tiro muitas fotos depois da igreja a gente foi no Museo de JK onde a gente conheço mais do governo do Brásil e do seu presidente e tiramos muitas fotos e foi embora do Brasil.
A gente chegou na próxima cidade Luís Eduardo Magalhães de noite e tudo mundo pulo na piscina.
Ficar no ônibus é cansativo e as vezes a gente pode achar chato mais quando vc vai com os intercâmbistas vc sempre leva musica, jogos e muita risada.
A gente aprendeu muitas coisas e terminamos muito cansados.

Day 4/Dia 4 - Brasília

Hoje dia 7 de janeiro nós tivemos uma experiência sensacional na cidade “ Brasília” .

A gente acordou às 6 da manhã e tivemos a reunião explicando as regras importante da viajem . Bem que era um pouco longa, mas importante pra se lembrar das coisas primordiais  ❌❌❌❌

Agora a viajem pode começar e primera foto oficial no famoso “ eu ♥ Brasília “ na praça mais bonita dessa cidade .

Depois nós fomos na cathédral do Brasília . CAPAZZZZ

Foi bem legal mas nós temos também que comer , dai nós fomos no

Um restaurante bem simpático.

Tivemos a história do Stanley pegar o papel do Big Guy no banheiro.

Depois de tudo isso , a gente se dividiu em 3 grupos pra ver os lugar importante do Brasília: palácio Itamaraty , o Plano Piloto de Brasília e a praça do três. Pra terminar esse dia , nós fomos na frente da casa do presidente e no shopping.

Foi um dia bem legal .

Agora , partiu hotel vision e vamos fazer a última reunião do dia.

Today, 7th of January we had a sensational experience in the city of Brasilia.

We woke up at 6 in the morning and we had a meeting where they explained us the rules of the trip.

Even if it was a bit long and boring, it was important being there at least in order to remember the important rules...  ❌❌❌❌

The trip can now start with the famous photo with the  “ eu ♥ Brasília “ logo in the principal sqare of the city.

Afterwards we went to the famous cathedral of Brasilia. CAPAZZZZ

It was really cool but we still had to eat so we went to an pretty nice restaurant.

Stanley got the toilet paper of “Big Guy” from Belgium. What a story...

Afterwards we were divided in 3 groups to see some important places here in Brasilia: the Itamaraty palace, the “Plano Piloto” of Brasilia and the square of the 3 orders.

To end this fantastic day we went in front of the presidential house and to the shopping mall. It has been a really cool day. Now, we are going to do the last meeting of the day.

Anxious for tomorrow!!

Day 3/Dia 3 - Araçatuba/Brasília

A gente acordou mais ou menos as cinco da manhã, pra pegar o ônibus até Brasília. No início quase todo mundo ficou dormindo no ônibus porque não tinha muito tempo pra dormir no hotel.
A viagem foi legal porque Stanley nos ensinou um jogo pra matar o tempo da viagem.
Chegamos em Brasília antes da programação então a gente tinha tempo pra ficar junto antes do curfew. Muitas pessoas encomendaram uma pizza e comeram junto.
Na hora do curfew todo mundo foi dormir para descansar pra os passeios em Brasília.

We woke up at about 5 in the morning, to get the bus to Brasília. In the beginning nearly everyone was sleeping because we didn’t have much time to sleep in the hotel.
The trip was really nice because Stanley taught us some games to kill time during the trip.
We arrived in Brasilia before the programmed time so we had time to stay together before the curfew. A lot of people ordered a pizza and ate it together. At te time of the curfew everyone went to sleep in order to rest for the activities in Brasilia.

Day 2/Dia 2 - Araçatuba

O ônibus que saiu de Porto Alegre e o ônibus que saiu de Foz do Iguaçu se encontraram em Araçatuba. Nossos intercambistas agora já se encontraram.
Saímos para comer em um festival de food trucks e estamos ansiosos para chegar em Brasília amanhã.

Day 1/Dia 01 - Porto Alegre/Santa Maria/Chapecó

Os primeiros intercambistas começaram a chegar. Por enquanto somos 14, mas já deu tempo de nos conhecer e dar muitas risadas.
Amanhã nos encontraremos com mais uma parte deles e nossa equipe já está preparada para recepcionar os intercambistas que estão no Paraná.
À noite os dois ônibus se encontrarão.

The first exchange students are alread in the trip. For now we are 14, and we had time enough to meet and laugh a lot.
Tomorrow we will meet with another part of them and our team is already prepared to welcome the exchange students who are in Paraná.
At night the two buses will meet.

 

It's time to travel
